Beautiful Mystic Aquarium / Mystic Ct. Wedding Photography by Della Bella Photography

Mystic Aquarium was first opened in 1973 as a privately owned corporation. Kelvin Smith, the industrialist and philanthropist who was the primary shareholder, chose Mystic, Connecticut as the site because of the area’s scenic shoreline and rich maritime history. The Aquarium has the only Beluga whales in New England. The Aquarium shuts down to the public and turns into a wedding venue with a great catering team to host your wedding ceremony and reception. Here are some wedding photographs from a recent 10/9/2016 wedding in this unique venue along the Connecticut shore.

Mill on the River, South Windsor,Ct. Wedding Photography Professional Affordable Weddings by Della Bella

The original dam, built by the Colonists and Indians, is the oldest in Connecticut. The first Mill was destroyed by a huge flood in 1750. In 1775, the Mill was rebuilt by Joseph Rockwell.

The Podunk Indians were once three clans, the Nameroke Warehouse Point, the Hockanum of East Hartford, and the Scanticookes. They camped on the river, fishing for shad salmon, hunting for deer and small game, raising corn, beans, squash, tobacco, and helping the Colonists build the dam. In return, the settlers gave them protection from the warring tribes of the Pequots and Mohigans.

Its often good to know the history of a venue prior to photographing your wedding, it lends to the history of your affair caught in the early part of the 21rst Century, and what a time we live in.

Rustic Wood Acre Farms Terryville, Ct. Wedding Photography by Della Bella Photography

Wood Acre Farms started out as a fruit and poultry farm and later their ancestors trained horses that were used on horse drawn carriages on the island of Bermuda. In 1972, Ken Wood inherited the farm and with his expertise of working with horses his entire life, he began a horse and carriage service. In 1986, Ken and his wife, along with their three children transformed their 250 year old farmhouse, barns, and grounds to host wedding ceremonies and receptions. Ali & Eli chose this venue for its rustic Connecticut charm and country setting. They both had a beautiful September day for their wedding, here are some photographs from their 9/25/2016 wedding.
